Welcome to my course project portal page
The following projects have been created as a way to explore front-end Web design and development

My First Page
This page is the first page I designed in this class using Dreamweaver. The objective of this page was to be able to follow the tutorials to the letter including color scheme, layout and file naming conventions. We learnt how to set up a site in Dreamweaver and we learnt about root folders and source folders.
Included in this tutorial we learnt how to change the color of elements such as text and background. We were also taught the importance of having elements that provide a heirarch such as Headings: such as naming them as heading 1/2/3 etc. We learnt how to save files correctly, and how to upload them to a domain using FileZilla.
The most notable thing for me in this project was learning how to code certain elements with Dreamweaver and how it not only is intuitive and gives a list of tags but also closes the tag. I also really appreciate that when there is an error, Dreamweaver highlights it in red for you to easily find and fix it.

Squint Studio Build-Along
The Squint Studio Build Along site was many tutorials building on our knowledge gained in our first project. Along with building the site, we made notes in a Google Slides document that included any tips, new vocabulary and images and links that would help us in the future.
We learnt the differences of inline, internal and external style. We learnt how to create an external Style sheet or CSS. With any style you want to apply you must have a selector and a declaration block for the style to be valid and applied.
We also learnt about accessibility for the web and how to make sure our websites are accessible to everyone. This was the most notable lesson for me because it is not only easy to make small changes to ensure the website is accessible but it makes it easier for the end user to use and/or see the website.

My Final Website
Our final project included designing a minimum of a one page website with our own content, styles and color themes. There were some basic requirements that we had to have included and a few extra elements we could add if we wanted. My favorite extra asset was learning how to design my own favicon.
We had to have a minimum of three paragraphs and three assets. We could have a maximum of three pages for this assignment. I chose to do two pages as a sort of porfolio with looking to the future - and being able to use this design when I eventually do have my own url. We had to optimize our assets for the web - which was a great lesson to learn.
I had a lot of fun with this project as I felt i had a lot more creative freedom, but it was also a bit nerve wrecking as I had to come up with my own content. Once I got over the initial paper and wireframe designs, I spent the time optimizing my assets and left the content for almost last - styling came last. What I learnt the most is that sometimes a program is going to have errors and it is always a good idea to take a break, restart your computer and ask peers to check things on their side. Especially when things that should work don't work! Overall, I learnt to have some confidence in my abilities and to work through issues in a concise manner - and to not give up on myself.
