Meat

There are a variety of meats you can use to make lumpia: ground hamburger, ground turkey, or ground pork. Some of the meats could be more greasy (pork) and some may need more seasoning (turkey). Whatever you chose, cook the meat with a tablespoon of vegetable oil and minced garlic until brown. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Veggies

While the meat is browning, prepare the veggies. Fresh or frozen. Mixed or one veggie. Mixed veggie is a favorite of my families. Place frozen veggies in a colander and run under cold water. In this mix, the green beans are too long so cut into three pieces. Once the meat is brown and the frozen veggies are thawed, throw the veggies in the meat and mix.

Wrappers

Lumpia wrappers can be picked up at any asian markets. Menlo Frozen Spring Roll Wrappers are the best ones to use. They are sturdy and square. I have tried the rice wrappers and round wrappers but they were difficutl to work with and would break easilly. The meat and veggie mix will be placed in the wrappers and rolled tight.

Paste

Once rolled, paste is used as a sealant. To make the paste, mix flour with water and stir using your fingers to feel the consistancy. It shouldn't be too watery.
