Main Point#1: Changes in Cloud Cover and Distribution
- Climate models predict shifts in cloud cover and distribution due to rising temperatures. (Kattenberg et al., 1995)
- Changes in land use and urbanization impact cloud formation. (Li et al., 2022)
The impact of climate change on clouds is an important topic in understanding the Earth's climate system. Understanding this impact is crucial for predicting future climate scenarios, assessing the influence of climate change on weather patterns, and understanding feedback mechanisms. Climate change heavily influences cloud formation and behavior, which has widespread consequences for our climate system and human societies. Throughout this essay, we will explore the evidence supporting this claim, highlighting how clouds are impacted by climate change, which leads to shifts in their cover, properties, and feedback mechanisms, influencing weather patterns, extreme events, and global climate dynamics.
Finding more sources proved tedious, especially ones that could best match my arguments. Writing concisely was fairly hard, mainly because I’m used to “overwriting.” Learning about how complex the relationship between climate change and clouds is has been eye-opening.
